Medicare can be confusing and answers to questions can be hard to find. Get the answers to your questions online. Here, we (MRC) provide an introduction to Medicare.

Through the NY State Hotline, MRC provides counseling to individuals who need answers to Medicare-related questions or help getting care. Hotline counselors are available Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM- 2:00 PM EST
 
MRC operates a national Medicare HMO Appeals hotline (1-888-HMO-9050) to assist Medicare HMO members who are appealing HMO denials of care or coverage.
 
 
 
If you are disabled and have been getting Social Security for more than two years, you should get your Medicare card three months before you become eligible. If you have kidney disease, you should enroll at your local Social Security office. If you have ALS, you become eligible for Medicare as soon as you begin getting Social Security disability benefits.

It is important for you to think about your particular health care needs. Do you have a doctor you prefer to see? Do you have a condition that requires frequent doctor visits? You have the right to appeal any health care decision made by Medicare, your doctor, hospital or a private Medicare planand you have a good chance of winning. In fact, 80% of Medicare Part A appeals and 92% of Part B appeals turn out in favor of the person appealing.
 
If you cannot afford a Medigap plan or other supplemental insurance and have limited income and savings, you may be able to get government help paying for some of your Medicare costs. You should look into the following programs (click on above).
