The information on this site is a collection of articles, stories and information for people considering being tested for Huntington's Disease and their families.
The decision to be tested for Huntington's Disease is an extremely difficult and soul-wrenching one to make.  It is hoped the information contained here can help you in this process.  No matter what, please know that you are NOT alone!  Many people have faced this same decision before and have came to the conculsion either to test or to not test.

You can find help through a local HDSA Chapter or Center of Excellence. Click on HD Support Information State-By-State to see what is available in your state. Also, there are many Internet Support Groups where people are more then willing to share their experiences and thoughts with you.
In the sections dealing with preimplantation and genetic testing of embryo's, including the related alternatives available to families, the intent is to provide a broad range of information so that individual's can make an informed decision.

This is a very private and personal decision each individual or family may be faced with when giving consideration to family planning.   Prenatal testing is by no means the only reproductive choice for people in HD families. Some choose not to have any type of testing; other options include artificial insemination, adoption, and in vitro fertilization with pre-implantation testing.
Anyone affected with or at risk for HD should have genetic counseling before starting a pregnancy so that he or she can make the reproductive decisions that are right for him or her.
