May is Huntington's Disease National Awareness Month.
Florida families from the Panhandle to the Keys suffer significant losses daily from Huntington's Disease.
During May, the Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) makes a specific effort to increase awareness of this devastating
disease.
This pseudo-marathon was designed as a tongue-in-cheek contest for Florida non-runners, to raise funds
for Huntington's Disease [HD] Research .
Huntington's Disease is an inherited, degenerative brain disorder that results in the progressive loss of
control of both the mind and the body. Each child of an affected parent has a 50% chance of inheriting the disease. Presently,
there is no effective treatment or cure for this deadly illness that affects 30,000 Americans and places another 200,000 at-risk.
Through the generosity of donors, the Huntington's Disease Society of America is able to triple your donation through the "Research Matching Gifts Challenge Fund"! |
Find a comfortable place on your couch to sit back, relax and participate in this marathon to help Huntington's
Disease Research!
