The HDSA is in the process of planning several changes which will positively affect our youth community, more specifically the HDSA National Youth Alliance members.  The HDSA NYA membership has grown significantly since its inception at the national convention in Orlando, Florida in 2000.  Since many of the current members of the HDSA NYA do not use email and/or participate on the Yahoo NYA Message Board, the HDSA is looking at ways to keep all of the members of our youth community better informed on activities or events which would be of interest to them, such as the annual HDSA NYA Convention Scholarship and other planned convention activities.  This will be accomplished either through eCommunication or U.S. mail.    In order to do this, there is a need to establish a National NYA Roster at HDSA. Since many of the current HDSA NYA member information is outdated it will be necessary for everyone to fill out an application form.  This applies to both current members and any youth who want to become a member of the HDSA NYA.    Please see the next column for the revised HDSA NYA Membership Application form. If you are a young adult living with Huntington's Disease and would like to join the HDSA National Youth Alliance or if you are a current member of the NYA but filled out your NYA application prior to 2008, please complete this application which is in MS Word format and either mail it or email it to HDSA [see addresses below]. NYA Membership Application Form   If you don't want to keep a copy of your application and would prefer filling out your application out on-line, you can do so on this HDSA link: HDSA NYA On-Line Application Form   The information provided by you in your HDSA NYA Membership application will be kept in the strictest confidence by the HDSA and the NYA Adult Advisors.    The HDSA is also in the process of establishing an HDSA-NYA National Committee. This committee will have representatives of the NYA, HDSA and adult advisors.  This committee will be tasked with identifying goals and objectives that will help address the needs of our HD youth community through education, advocacy, awareness and fund raising.  The National NYA Roster will be used to keep the members of the HDSA NYA informed of the committee's planned activities.
