Huntington's Disease
A practical guide for individuals, families, and professionals coping with HD
           By Jane S. Paulsen, Ph.D.

Acknowledgements

Most of what I know about behaviour in Huntington's disease (HD) was taught to me by the HD individuals and families I have worked with. They have struggled with me to find solutions to their problems. It is with gratitude to this HD family that I pass this information along to others.

This book would not have been possible without persistence, support and encouragement from Ralph Walker and Liz Mueller. Id like to thank my colleagues Neal Swerdlow, Mike Swenson, and Nancy Wexler for guiding me in helping HD families. My graduate student, Joanne Hamilton, and the HD Family Service Co-ordinator, Dawn Stoll Fernandes, offered invaluable assistance throughout the creation and production of the book.

Finally, I am indebted to my family, Lance, Jordan, and Maren.

The following people reviewed the manuscript and I am grateful for their help and contributions: Elizabeth Agresta, Jackie Gray, Jack Penney, Julie Porter, Lynda Sherman, Bob Snodgrass, Beth Turner and Anne Young. Terry Jernigan supplied the MRI scans on page 9.

The Huntington Society of Canada wishes to thank The Trillium Foundation for funding the publication of this book.
