Let's put a human face on the need for stem cell research.
We are a grassroots,
volunteer group of patients and their families and friends who believe that stem cell research has the potential to save the
lives of those afflicted by many so-called "hopeless" medical conditions, including Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's,
juvenile diabetes, M.S., A.L.S. and spinal cord injury.
The purpose of this "Portraits of Hope" project is to show the faces and recount
the stories of people who have such illnesses.
We will also present these portraits to federal and state legislators -- thereby
bringing home the personal and urgent character of our request for government support for this research.
We are asking only that human suffering be responded to in a compassionate and responsible
manner.
Do you know someone who has an illness that stem cell research might help cure?
Or do you have such an illness yourself? If so, please compose a brief biography (100 to 750 words) add a photo and e-mail
it us. |
-> Post A Portrait On The Web
In your text, please include the person's age and interests, the town or city where
the person lives, how his or her life has been affected by the illness, and the ways in which family and friends are giving
their support.
You may scan a regular photo into a computer or go to a local copy shop and they will put the photo
into digital form and e-mail it to us. Examples of these "Portraits of Hope" may be viewed by clicking on Portrait List.
If
you have any questions about preparing such a portrait, please contact us at: Idelle@stemcellaction.org.
Send your Portrait to the U.S. Congress
If
you would like your portrait to be forwarded to those who represent you in the U.S. Congress, then please fill out the "Submit Portrait" information, which will provide us with the information needed to forward your "Portrait" to your Senator
and Congressman/Congresswoman. |
